1. Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines

Fully Qualified and Registered Teachers employed at Kidi Kingdom Childcare Services develop their Kindergarten Program based on the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline.  The guideline gives teachers advice on how to deliver a kindergarten program that meets national and state quality standards and regulations.

Approved kindergarten programs develop your child’s physical, social, intellectual, language and emotional abilities. The Kindergarten Program at Kidi Kingdom offers opportunities for children to learn how to:

  • use language to communicate ideas, feelings and needs

  • make friends and co-operate with other children

  • become more independent and confident in their abilities

  • develop self-discipline

  • creatively express ideas and feelings through art, dance and dramatic play

  • identify, explore and solve problems

  • develop reading, writing and numeracy skills.

2. How to Prepare your Child for Kindergarten

At Kidi Kingdom Childcare services our Kindergarten programs offer long day care hours giving your family flexibility and convenience if and when it is needed. We have qualified Early Childhood Teachers that receive ongoing professional development to ensure that your child is exposed to the best teaching practices. Our teachers provide learning programs that are designed to nurture your child’s individual needs and interests, preparing them for the next stage of their life, attending school.

Caregivers can help to prepare their children for Kindergarten by talking to their child about what will happen while they are at Kindergarten, and how exciting it is that their child is getting ready for school.

3. How to Support Learning and Development

At Kidi Kingdom Childcare services our Teachers encourage caregivers  to have an active role in thier child’s education, volunteering time and or expertise, joining our parent committee, fundraising for events, attending information sessions or formal parent meetings or at the very least ensuring that their child participates in centre events, i.e. calendar dress up days for celebrations.

At Kidi Kingdom Childcare services we recognise that Caregivers are the child’s first teacher and that the most important thing that you can do for your child is to talk with them. Language and the ability to communicate with others, which may include using sign language and devices to aid speech or writing, is essential for learning.

We encourage our families to read to their child/ren every day, play simple games and explore outdoors, looking at nature and supporting them to talk about what they see.

Everyday experiences around the home are also valuable opportunities for learning. Tasks such as setting the table, helping with the grocery shopping, gardening and tidying up, all help children with their development.

4. How to Prepare your Child for School

At the end of your child’s kindergarten year, you will receive a formal School Transitional Statement from your child’s Kindergarten Teacher.  These statements are designed to give parents and future Teachers an understanding about your child’s learning and development at that point in time.

At Kidi Kingdom childcare services we work closely with schools in our local area to develop Prep Transitional Days, where our Teachers will take their class to different local schools to partake in learning experiences designed to provide children with a better understanding of what school life will be like.

Caregivers can also help in getting their child ready for school by talking with them and helping to get them excited about this next stage of their lives.  We highly recommend that our parents also attend our transitional days at local schools, as at Kidi Kingdom we recognise that this is not only a big step for children, but also for their parents.

5. TIP – Transition to Prep Program

We are excited to announce our new ( TIP ) Transition Into Prep Program for all children starting prep.

This program will consist of ongoing excursions until the end of Term 4 to our local schools to support the children transitioning to their new environments. Each fortnight we will be going to the local schools with a group of pre-prep children to support their transition into school. The children will be travelling on the centre courtesy Bus to and from the venue. You will be required to complete the necessary excursion permission form for your child to attend this transition program.

Your child will be participating in the prep classes and have the opportunity to participate in planned learning experiences. These experiences will include group time, free play, exploring the library and literacy and numeracy activities. This will ensure we can see how the children progress with listening skills, fine/gross motor development, social interactions and much more.

Visit your local Kidi Kingdom Child Care Centre for your child’s exclusive access to this exceptional educational program.
