When showing parents through the service at Kidi Kingdom, they are often excited that part of our daily routine is distribution of classroom jobs.
Educators explain to parents that classroom jobs and household chores help children to develop confidence, independence and a sense of self.
Parents often ask educators what type of jobs should they be getting their children to do to start helping around at home.
For children aged between 2 and 3 years of age, start simple, & encourage children to:
-Pick up and put away their toys.
-Put clothes in the dirty clothes basket.
-Put clothes away.
-Keep their room tidy.
For children aged between 4 and 5 years of age, increase the complexity of jobs. Encourage children to do :
-All before mentioned toddler chores Load the dishwasher (with supervision)
-Sweep the floor and dustpan up crumbs.
-Set, and clear the table.
-Rinse dishes (with supervision).
-Match socks.
-Fold tea towels.
Weed the garden It is important to remember, however, that all children develop at different stages.
Some may require more assistance than others to complete tasks.
Never forget that your child is βstill a childβ, and not everything has to be perfect, at this point it doesnβt really matter if a blue sock is matched with a yellow one, the point is, your child had a go, and gave it their best shotβ¦, we recommend to acknowledge and praise their efforts every time, to develop a confident and independent child.
