Dear
Valued Families of the Early Learners Room,
We are
excited to share with you the latest happenings and
highlights in the Early Learners Room for this term.
Firstly, a big welcome to Alfie, Alaska and Amelia, our new
friends in the Early Learners Room. It is great to see you
all making new friends and exploring your new surroundings.
The
children have been very busy in the past few months
celebrating various events and working towards their own
milestones, skills and development.
In June,
July, August the children participated in a lot of different
events including Reconciliation Week, Best Friend's Day,
Yoga Day, Naidoc Week, Teddy Bear's Picnic, National
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day,
National Red Nose Day, Science Week and Book Week! We all
took part in lots of different activities and experiences to
celebrate these events. What a fun-filled few months it has
been in our Early Learners Room.
In the
Month of June we had fun exploring colours, shapes, space
and our human body. Throughout our play experiences the
children especially enjoyed the physical obstacle course as
they worked on their gross motor skills while learning about
their bodies.
In July we
focused on learning about our five senses as we explored
touch, taste, hearing and sight senses. We then transitioned
to learn all about the benefits of healthy eating as we
created healthy food together such as a fruit salad,
blueberry muffins as well as banana bread.
In the
month of August our focus was learning about nature. We each
created our very own grass heads. The children grasped the
grass seeds, planted them and watered them. We have been
watching them grow and they have been growing so fast. The
children showed interest as they joined in, creating a
veggie patch together with snow peas! We look forward to
another wonderful term together!
Kind
Regards, Miss Emily and Miss Alexis. |

Welcome to
the newsletter for Junior Early Years Room A special welcome
to our new friends that have moved up from Early Learners,
SJ and Alice, as well as our new friends that have begun
their education and care journey with us.
What a
fantastic couple of months we have had in the room. Over the
last couple of months the children have participated in so
much learning and exploring. The Junior Early Years children
have explored Arctic Animals, Jungle Animals, Sea Animals
and Farm Animals. During these experiences the children have
had the opportunity to explore, create and use their
imagination through sensory play, drawing, role playing and
identifying animals they are familiar with in books and
puzzles.
In the
coming months we will participate in experiences that
support the development of our colours, shapes and name
recognition. The children will have the opportunity to
explore these through art and craft, science experiments and
cooking experiences.
The
children have also been visiting the garden at least twice a
week where they have been engaged in weeding, raking and
planting some spring onions.
Kind
Regards, Miss Kylie, Miss Kara and Miss Verity.

Hello and
Welcome to the Early Years Room. During the last few months
the children have been involved in many learning and
educational experiences. We focused on implementing
experiences that supported the children in learning their
colours throughout an eight week project. We also explored
their colours through science experiments, cooking and art
and craft.
During
July the children showed an interest in different animals
from around the world. We started with our jungle animals,
exploring tigers, elephants, frogs, sloths and snakes. The
children responded well to learning about these animals and
showed an extended interest in participating in experiences
that involved learning more about other animals.
This month
we have just started exploring our sea animals and have so
far looked at sharks and jellyfish and will continue to
explore more sea creatures. The children have really
embraced the activities and we look forward to introducing
more experiences that meet the children's interests of
animals.
During
this time we have also had some special events such as
NAIDOC Week, Teddy Bear's Picnic, Reconciliation Week,
National Best Friend's Day and International Yoga Day. In
the next couple of weeks we will be celebrating National Red
Nose Day, National Science Week and Children Book Week.
KInd
Regards, Miss Tia and Miss Benita. |
Kindergarten Room |
Welcome
Valued Families to our Kindergarten Room.
I would
like to take this opportunity to welcome our new friends
Ewai, Ollie, Ej and Hamiora into the Kindergarten program.
The children have thrived in making new friends and building
relationships with the Educators and their peers in the
classroom. It has been a busy term in the Kindergarten Room
as we continue to prepare the children for the beginning of
their formal school journey.
During the
month of July, we focused on NAIDOC celebrations and
extended our learning on diversity. The Teddy Bear's Picnic
was another great opportunity for the children to develop
communication, language skills and creating imaginative play
ideas.
Over the
next month we will be focusing on the children's individual
interests, creating a learning environment and experiences
based around the children's individual learning needs and
development. We will keep developing our ongoing objectives
for this year such as reading the calendar, identifying days
of the week, name writing and recognition, alphabet letters
and sounds and number writing and recognition.
We are
also developing observations and listening skills through
literature and show and tell. These experiences support in
building children's confidence in front of their peers,
asking and answering questions.
It has
been an amazing past few months of learning and development
to support the children in their preparation for a smooth
transition to primary school.
A big
thank you to all families for ongoing support. If you have
any questions regarding your child's routine and their
development, please feel free to contact us through the
centre.
Kind
Regards, Miss Cheri and Miss Regina.

Cooking with Children!
Mini Cinnamon Scrolls |
 |
Super easy ● 1:30 mins Prep
Time ● 0:15 mins Cooking Time
Ingredients
● 225 ml milk
● 75 g unsalted butter
● 425 g plain flour sifted
● 70 g caster sugar
● 1/2 tsp sea salt
● 10 g fast action dried yeast |
FOR THE FILLING
● 75 g butter softened
● 50 g caster sugar
● 2 tsp ground cinnamon
FOR THE ICING
● 1/2 cup icing sugar sifted
● 1 tbsp milk |

Method
1. Preheat the oven to 200ºC.
2. Heat the milk and butter in a small pan until
it almost comes to a boil, then take it off the heat
and allow it to cool down. You don't want the milk
to be too hot when you add the yeast or it will
prevent it from rising.
3. Mix together the flour, sugar and salt in a
large bowl. Add the yeast and stir to combine. Make
a well in the middle of the ingredients and add the
warm milk mixture. Mix everything together until the
dough starts pulling away from the side of the bowl.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set it aside in
a warm place for 30 minutes.
4. Meanwhile, make the filling. Mix together the
butter, sugar and cinnamon in a bowl until well
combined. Lightly spray two mini muffin trays with
oil, or grease with melted butter, and set aside.
5. Divide the dough into two pieces. Working
with one piece at a time, and using a rolling pin,
roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to
form a 20 cm x 30 cm rectangle. Spread 1/2 the filling
evenly over the rectangle. Roll it up using one of
the long edges to make a long cylinder shape.
6. Using a sharp knife, cut the rolled up dough
into 12 slices. Place each piece into a mini muffin
cup. Continue with the other piece of dough until
all the cups are filled. Cover the trays with oiled
plastic wrap and let the scrolls rise in a warm
place for 30-40 minutes, or until they've doubled in
size.
7. Bake the scrolls on the middle shelf of the
oven for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove
the scrolls from their pan and let them rest on a
cooling rack while you prepare the icing.
8. To make the icing, whisk together the icing
sugar and milk in a small bowl. If it seems too
thick add a little more milk 1/2 teaspoon at a time.
Once you have a smooth, runny icing, drizzle it over
the scrolls. Allow the scrolls to set before
serving.
NOTES: Un-iced scrolls can be stored in
the freezer for up to 3 months.
