Message from the Educational Program Leader

Welcome Valued Coomera Families!

I hope you all had a wonderful winter! I've been seeing special moments being made in all of the classrooms and beautiful bonds created between the children and their peers and educators.

I have been working with our outstanding educators in creating more welcoming and stimulating environments based on your child's strengths, interest and needs. We had a great time during Book Week at the end of August! To strengthen the children's growing love for books, our educators have been engaging in one-on-one conversational reading with the children and focusing on various themes explored in each classroom's "Book of the Week".

A friendly reminder, you can stay up to date with classroom news and events via the Hubhello App.

Kind Regards, Ms Stephanette Roaché, Educational Program Leader.

Early Learners Room

Welcome Valued Centre Families,

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new children into the room, Teddi and Jai ! Our Early Learners have had a very exciting last three months, the classroom focus has been on learning our colours.

We have had lots of fun exploring colours through painting, sensory play, reading, colour sorting and songs. Over the last few months all of the children have met new milestones. Some have begun talking, crawling, walking, standing, and recognising various colours.

Our children are developing new skills as they participate in learning experiences that support their developing personalities. It is great to see so much engagement in these experiences from the children at this young age and we look forward to sharing these amazing learning developments and milestones with our families.

Kind Regards, Miss Courtney and Miss Gracie.

Junior Early Years Room

Welcome Families to the Junior Early Years Room!

What a fascinating time we have had!

During this quarter, we celebrated so many events in the Junior's Early Years Room. While celebrating National Reconciliation Week and Naidoc Week, the children acknowledged and understood the histories, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The children were also thrilled to have a picnic outdoors with their teddy bears. The educators created an amazing cosy environment by adding tents, balloons, slinkies, bubbles, party whistles and various picnic themed snacks. The toddlers sat in small groups enjoying the food and sharing conversation with each other and their cherished teddy bears.

Other celebrations participated in include; National Best Friends Day, Yoga Day, and Aunt's and Uncle's Morning Tea. These events provided various opportunities for our toddlers to grow and learn about their community and the world around them.

Every week we chose new topics to explore with children by doing different activities. We made sure to create a safe and secure environment for children during these fun experiences.

This month of August, we have incredible and infinite ideas for National Children's Day, National Red Rose Day, National Science Week, and Children's Book Week. We cannot wait to be involved in all these events as we all are super excited.

Our learning has been moving forward with a range of opportunities available. Our young children grasped new information on emotions, feelings, sea animals, wild animals, domestic animals, face parts, body parts, shapes, numbers, and alphabets. All these brilliant subjects have helped to keep our toddlers interested and stimulated, keeping these fast-paced little human's going, with no intention of slowing down developing their growing brains and bodies!

Kind Regards, Miss Puneet, Miss Harman and Miss Amber.

Welcome Valued Families of School Care,

Our before and after school care children have been having so much fun at the centre. This term's current interest the children are all things Science! We have been participating in some very cool science experiments. In the mornings and afternoons, the school care children have been eager to help create stimulating obstacle courses and learning spaces for the long day care children in our outdoor playgrounds. Cooking with Children!

Mini Cinnamon Scrolls

Super easy    ● 1:30 mins Prep Time   ● 0:15 mins Cooking Time

Ingredients

● 225 ml milk

● 75 g unsalted butter

● 425 g plain flour sifted

● 70 g caster sugar

● 1/2 tsp sea salt

● 10 g fast action dried yeast

FOR THE FILLING

● 75 g butter softened

● 50 g caster sugar

● 2 tsp ground cinnamon

FOR THE ICING

● 1/2 cup icing sugar sifted

● 1 tbsp milk

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 200ºC.

2. Heat the milk and butter in a small pan until it almost comes to a boil, then take it off the heat and allow it to cool down. You don't want the milk to be too hot when you add the yeast or it will prevent it from rising.

3. Mix together the flour, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Add the yeast and stir to combine. Make a well in the middle of the ingredients and add the warm milk mixture. Mix everything together until the dough starts pulling away from the side of the bowl. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set it aside in a warm place for 30 minutes.

4. Meanwhile, make the filling. Mix together the butter, sugar and cinnamon in a bowl until well combined. Lightly spray two mini muffin trays with oil, or grease with melted butter, and set aside.

5. Divide the dough into two pieces. Working with one piece at a time, and using a rolling pin, roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to form a 20 cm x 30 cm rectangle. Spread 1/2 the filling evenly over the rectangle. Roll it up using one of the long edges to make a long cylinder shape.

6. Using a sharp knife, cut the rolled up dough into 12 slices. Place each piece into a mini muffin cup. Continue with the other piece of dough until all the cups are filled. Cover the trays with oiled plastic wrap and let the scrolls rise in a warm place for 30-40 minutes, or until they've doubled in size.

7. Bake the scrolls on the middle shelf of the oven for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove the scrolls from their pan and let them rest on a cooling rack while you prepare the icing.

8. To make the icing, whisk together the icing sugar and milk in a small bowl. If it seems too thick add a little more milk 1/2 teaspoon at a time. Once you have a smooth, runny icing, drizzle it over the scrolls. Allow the scrolls to set before serving.

NOTES: Un-iced scrolls can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.
