What is Kindy? |
|
Kindergarten,
known as kindy, is a part-time educational program for children
in the year before Prep (the first year of school in
Queensland). Kindy is a place where your child will learn
through play experiences and interactions that support their
early learning, wellbeing and development. By participating in
kindy, children develop a love of learning and are supported
with their transition to Prep. Queensland Government-approved
kindy programs are delivered by a qualified early childhood
teacher. Kindy programs can be offered at early childhood
education centres; selected rural and remote and other selected
state schools where there have been barriers to access
kindergarten; and by distance education or eKindy for some
children who cannot access a centre. |
| |
|
Learning at Kindy
|
Kindy
provides young children with opportunities to:
-
use language to communicate ideas, feelings and
needs
-
make friends, interact and cooperate with others
-
identify issues and develop problem solving skills
-
become more confident and independent in their
abilities
-
connect with, explore and contribute to their world
-
build their knowledge and explore new ideas, helping
to build their confidence.
|
|
Free Kindy from 2024 ! |
 |
|
The Queensland
Government is making kindy free for all Queensland families.
Kindy will be free for eligible-aged children who attend a
government-approved program offering free kindy from 1 January
2024. This is 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year, of free
kindy taught by a qualified early childhood teacher. Families
can choose kindy in a sessional kindergarten or kindergarten in
a long day care. In Queensland, children can attend kindy in the
year before they start Prep.
|
|
Each service is different and some
may have a waiting list, so it's a good idea to speak to your
chosen service about the best time to enrol your child. Your
child must be 4 years old by 30 June in the year they enrol to
participate in kindy.

you for choosing Kidi Kingdom as your childcare provider. I
have had a wonderful experience meeting all our new families,

I hope that
the lovely, sunny days that have finally arrived are being
enjoyed by our family. As we approach the joyous season of
Christmas, I am thrilled to provide some fantastic updates on
what's been going on around our centre!
Our young
children love Ginger Sport with Coach Mo! Playing soccer with
Mr. Mo provides youngsters a safe, supportive, and positive
atmosphere. It's an excellent sport for children to begin with.
It imparts coordination and teamwork in a fun and upbeat manner.
Also we have
an ongoing fun and active Tiny Tennis program with Miss Erin,
designed specifically for 2 to 5 years olds. This program
introduces our little ones to the basics of tennis, develops
motor skills and hand-eye coordination, increases confidence and
builds team play and group participation !!!
Happy Feet
Fitness with Miss Emma, our children are welcomed into an
environment where we encourage a growth mindset, an appreciation
of health and an active lifestyle. We also provide them with
educational content that broadens their horizons and equips them
with the confidence they need to navigate through life.
Additionally,
I would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome
to several incredible team members who have joined the Kidi

Early Years Room |
|
Welcome to
the Early Years Room.
What a
fascinating time we have had whilst celebrating Father's
Day, Grandparent's Morning Tea, Day for Daniel, Halloween,
Diwali and many more events.
Each week
we chose new topics to explore with the children by
implementing new experiences. We create a safe environment
for children during these fun experiences.
Our
learning has been moving forward with a range of
opportunities available for every child and their emerging
interests. Our young children grasped new skills and
knowledge on emotions, feelings, sea animals, wild animals,
domestic animals, face parts, body parts, shapes, numbers,
and alphabets. All these brilliant subjects have helped to
keep our children interested and stimulated, keeping these
fast-paced little human's going with no intention of slowing
down developing their growing brains and bodies!
Our
children also develop new skills as they engage in learning
experiences that support their developing personalities. It
is amazing that children are so committed to these
experiences at such a young age and we look forward to
sharing these wonderful learning developments and milestones
with our families.
Kind
Regards, Miss Kajal and Miss Talia.

Junior
Early Learners Room |
|
Dear
Valued Families of the Junior Early Learners Room.
We wish to
extend a warm welcome to all of our families!
The last
few months have been a great opportunity to celebrate
multiculturalism, participation inclusiveness, diversity,
respect and the sense of belonging for everyone in the
centre and our community as we celebrated Halloween, Day for
Daniel, Grandparent's Morning Tea and Father's Day. Our
Diwali celebration extended in expressive arts and crafts,
roleplay, music and dance.
Our
morning group times have been a great success with children
engaging in experiences that promote colour recognition,
learning our names, learning new songs and listening to
stories each day. The children have also shown great
interest in learning about recycling. Teaching the children
to care for the environment and turning recyclable items
into art and crafts has been a focus of our learning. We
would love any recyclable materials you may throw out at
home as we can turn these items into something amazing.
The room
program is age appropriate, safe, fun and based on the
children's interests by encouraging independence,
confidence, building friendships and creating a sense of
belonging as the children explore new adventures, exciting
activities and participate in experiences that support the
children's imagination. We are all very excited for what the
rest of the year has in store. We would also like to remind
parents that your input is very important and appreciated.
Kind
Regards, Miss Rebecca, Miss Kylie and Miss Kitvida.

Welcome
Valued Families to the Early Learners Room.
Over the
past three months we have been extending on the children's
interests, strength and their abilities. We also celebrated
Kidi Kingdom's calendar of events. The children participated
in events such as Father's Day and got to spend time with
their parents together at the centre. We also focused on
"Child Protection Week" where we talked about stranger
danger. We have explored learning games numbers, colours and
problem solving and concentration including lego, puzzles
and sensory exploration. We welcomed spring and participated
in outdoor experiences with more daylight, as Spring &
Summer is a representation of new life and light. We have
also been spending time outdoors exploring our vegetable
garden.
In the
month of October, we learnt the importance of weather and
explored the outdoor environment. We also participated in
special events including the Diwali celebration in respect
of diversity and Halloween party where we wore special
costumes.
We have
welcomed new friends in our room and are following our
routine to ensure our little ones are comfortable and
stable. With routines, babies understand the procedures and
make their environment and day more predictable.
In the
Early Learners room the children are always encouraged to
explore all learning areas to express their interests and
supported to feel comfortable and happy. I have noticed
babies high interest in the yarning circle in the morning. A
Yarning circle helps babies to understand the concept of
building respectful relationships with others and welcome
diversity. It also helps to enhance communication skills.
We are
also focusing on drawing experiences with the children. We
are providing the children with a variety of activities to
develop their pre-writing skills and also we are encouraging
the children to use the pincer grip to improve early writing
skills.
Please
contact us anytime if you wish to discuss your child's
development and learning. Thank you to all our families for
all your support.
Kind
Regards, Miss Sandy and Miss Manpreet. |

Welcome
Valued Families to the Senior Early Years Room.
It has
been a fun filled couple of months in the Senior Early Years
Room ! We would like to start by welcoming all our new
families to the Senior Early Years Classroom.
In the
month of October, I joined the Kidi Kingdom Child Care
Pimpama team. My name is Miss Kristell and I am your child's
new lead educator. The children have done amazingly in
establishing their own individual connection with me which
has been comforting for me and for the children.
During
this month, we have participated in many experiences
supporting the children's emotions, hygiene, number and
colour recognition and currently revisiting our ABC's. One
activity that the children really loved participating in was
making and decorating their own biscuits. Not only was it a
great learning experience but the end result was yummy to
eat.
I am
really looking forward to the next few months where the
children can start creating some Christmas decor for their
families including Christmas trees for their homes and
turning our classroom into a Christmas wonderland.
Kind
Regards, Miss Kristell.

Kindergarten Room |
|
In our
Kindergarten Room we have been focusing on our transition to
Prep for 2024 and supporting the children in preparing for
their new journey.
We have
been introduced experiences, been involved in group &
individual discussions, talked about how the children will
eat lunch, play outdoors and learn in the classroom whilst
starting their preparatory year.
Children's
School Readiness is important to assist the children in
feeling at ease when transitioning into the school system.
We ensure the children are emotionally independent and feel
confident in leaving the early education setting to a new
environment.
During the
last few months, we have also focused on the children's
emerging skills. Early numeracy and literacy has played a
big part in our education journey. This includes number
recognition, counting and matching. We also introduced
sensory sand trays where the children could trace different
shapes and write letters in the sand. During our learning
journey, we also participated in experiences with the
interactive smart board including reading and writing.
We would
like to take this opportunity to wish our 2023 Kindergarten
Graduates a wonderful journey into their Prep year and many
happy days at big school.
Kind
Regards, Miss Assra and Miss Kiran.

School Care Room |
|
Dear
Valued Families of the School Care Room.
It has
been absolutely amazing getting to know you and your
children over the last couple of months. In such a short
time we have made such magical memories together in our
School Care space. We have spent the last few months
adjusting to our new space and educators together.
Some of
our afternoons are spent in our "school care space" tent,
relaxing with the squishmallows. This space supports the
development of our emerging self-regulation skills. We have
also participated in some outdoor sports experiences. This
has led us to exploring sporting culture, and discussing the
way that we celebrate important events in our world.
School
Care are now fully in the swing of things for Christmas and
are counting down the days until our first Christmas
vacation care together. Please notify our Centre Manager if
you wish to enrol in our special school holiday program.
Kind
Regards, Miss Destiny and Miss Melanie.

Cooking with Children!
Fairy Bread Fudge. |
 |
|
Ingredients:
● Peel and dice the sweet potato, and then cook
until mashable. I did this step in the microwave.
(Image 1) Drain off as much liquid as you can.
● Grate the apple (I used a box
grater). (Image 2)
● Mash the sweet potato. (Image 3)
● Mix in the grated apple (Image 4)
● Add the flour, egg and sage in a
large bowl to the sweet potato
mixture.
● Mix until all combined.
● Grab tablespoonfuls and cook over
medium heat with olive oil in a fry
pan/ skillet.
● Flip when golden brown and cook
until golden on the other side.
Drain on paper towels.

Method:
Step 1
Line a 19cm (base) square cake pan
with foil, allowing sides to
overhang. Place 1/2 the condensed
milk, 1/2 the chocolate and 1/2 the
butter in a small saucepan over low
heat. Cook, stirring constantly,
until melted and smooth.
Step 2
Remove from the heat and add a few
drops of food coloring. Stir until
evenly combined. Pour into the
prepared pan and smooth the surface.
Refrigerate for 1 hour or until just
firm.
Step 3
Repeat the process with remaining
condensed milk, chocolate and
butter. Stir in vanilla. Pour over
the pink layer in the pan and smooth
the surface. Sprinkle with hundreds
& thousands and gently press to
secure. Refrigerate for 6 hours or
overnight.
Step 4
Cut into small squares to serve
(take care handling the fudge as it
will be soft). Store in an airtight
container in the fridge.
Recipe Notes:
Why is it called fairy bread?
Apparently fairy bread was the name
originally used to describe
wafer-thin crispy toast served with
soup. In the 1920s, it was referred
to as a party treat for kids in a
Hobart newspaper and the rest is
history. Although the name was most
likely chosen because of its
colorful appearance, some say it
came from Robert Louis Stevenson's
poem Fairy Bread, where he writes of
children eating fairy bread as they
listen to fairy tales being told.
Why is fairy bread so popular in
Australia?
Ever since it was first mentioned in
a Tasmanian newspaper in 1929, fairy
bread was adopted throughout
Australia and New Zealand as the
ultimate kids party dish. It's easy
to make, doesn't cost much, only
requires 3 ingredients and always
makes children wide-eyed with
excitement. |
