If your
child is turning 4, they may need to have a health check. If
they don't, your Family Tax Benefit (FTB) Part A rate may
reduce.
What a Health Check Is
A health
check is an assessment of your child's physical health. It
includes their height, weight, hearing, sight and general
wellbeing. It ensures your child is healthy, fit and ready
to learn when they start school.
Your child
can have a health check from when they turn 3. A General
Practitioner (GP) or community health clinic can do a health
check. Some other providers can do a health check, depending
on the situation. Requirements are different in each state
and territory.
QLD: A
health check on a child who's 3 to 3 and a half, or 4 to 5.
You can find details in the Personal Health Record,
sometimes called the Red Book. A general health check on
your child after they turn 3, provided by your local GP or
community health clinic.
What you
need to do
-
Arrange a health check for your child
-
This
is an age appropriate health check as outlined in the
Health check table.
-
To
arrange a health check, talk to your GP, health
professional or staff at your community health clinic.
-
Tell
us your child has had a health check
-
You'll
need to do this before your child's fifth birthday.
-
You
can do this with the Healthy Start for School review
using your Centrelink online account through
myGov.
We'll send a notification to your online account that
you need to complete an update.
-
If you
can't complete the Healthy Start for School review for
your child online, call us on the
Families line as soon as possible.
-
When
you call us, you may be offered to update the health
check information through our Smart IVR (Interactive
Voice Response). If you can't use the Smart IVR, wait to
speak to a service officer and let them know your child
has had a health check.
-
We'll
only record the date your child had the health check. We
don't record the details of the check.
How it affects your payments
You have
until your child's fifth birthday to centrelink that they
have had a health check. If you don't, centrelink may reduce
your FTB Part A payments for your child.
Your FTB
Part A payments may reduce by up to $30.66 per fortnight.
This reduction amount is subject to an annual Consumer Price
Index (CPI) increase. The reduction will start on their
fifth birthday and continue for up to 26 fortnights.
Example
Nat's
child turned 4 on 1 November 2021. She got both an
income support payment and FTB Part A for 3 months
during the 2021-22 financial year.
Nat took
her child to the local community health clinic to have a
health check when her child turned 3. This meets the
requirements but Nat still needs to tell us the health check
has been done.
Nat has
until 31 October 2022 to tell us. This is the day before her
child's 5th birthday. If Nat doesn't tell us, we'll reduce
her FTB Part A payments for that child. This reduction will
start from 1 November 2022 and continue for 3 months. It
lasts for 3 months because that's how long Nat got these
payments in the financial year Nat's child turned 4.

Letter from the Centre Manager |
|
Jingeri :)
Hello and Welcome to our Centre Families.
There have
been many moments of fun and laughter this year at Kidi Kingdom
Child Care Coomera.
We have had
the joys of celebrating birthdays, children's milestones, family
events, opening of our playgroup, seeing our educators
completing their Certificate III Education and Care or Diploma
Education and Care. We cannot wait to see what the new year
brings for our children, families and the community.
Now that we
are entering the warmer weather, the children have been enjoying
playing in our amazing waterpark. It is encouraged that our
families pack sunsmart clothing for their children for our
spontaneous waterplay days.
Remember to
like Kidi Kingdom Childcare Centre Coomera's Facebook page to
see the most recent exciting experiences at our high quality
centre.
As the end of
the year is fast approaching, we will be sending a warm farewell
to our big Pre-Prep children as they embark on their new journey
to Primary school! Thank you for trusting us to care for all
your children.
Please like
our
Facebook
page and we always appreciate our loyal families helping our
centre by sharing your positive experiences to the local community
by writing a quick
Google,

Message from the Educational Program Leader |
|
Dear
Valued Centre Families,
I have
recently completed the 3a Practitioner Professional Learning
Program in collaboration with the University of Melbourne,
through this course I have gained valuable knowledge in the
Abecedarian Approach Australia to effectively implement 3a
strategies to support Kidi Kingdom Coomera and ultimately
advance the children's learning outcomes.
I am now
equipped with learning strategies that will enhance the
quality of interactions with our children and support child
development and learning. Did you know, 3a is proven to have
a positive impact on child, educator and family outcomes,
with lasting change in children's lives both before and
after they start school!
Conversational reading is a powerful way to read with your
child. We are so excited to incorporate 3a conversational
reading into our outdoor program by creating a "reading hut"
and a "reading garden" in two of the outdoor spaces. This
will ensure each child has the opportunity to have
one-on-one time with an educator to build on many areas of
their development. This will be a great addition to our
program as our goal is to socialise 3A and create a language
rich environment for our children.
Here is a
link with information to help you practice conversational
reading at home with your children

Message from the Early Learners Room |
|
Dear
Families of the Early Learners Room.
Our Early
Learners children have been very busy these last three
months, each child has grown and developed new skills. Some
of our Early Learners children have started to walk, climb
and crawl, talk and are starting to follow instructions with
confidence.
The
children have been very interested in the outdoors, we have
had many days outside exploring. As the weeks get warmer
Miss Rachael asks for the parents to start bringing in
sunsmart swimwear for water play. The children started off a
little timid towards the water park but as they gained
confidence over time they have come to enjoy running under
the mushroom and getting their hair and bodies wet.
The last
few months we have had many celebrations in October
including World Farm Animal Day, World Wildlife Week, World
Space Week, National Bird Week and Diwali. These experiences
help introduce each child to a difference in culture,
respect for our planet and animals, help the children to
develop language skills, fine motor skills and social
skills.
Below is a
website that is used to help encourage the children's
language skills.

Message from the Junior Early Years Room |
|
Dear
Families of the Junior Early Years Room.
I would
love to welcome our new friends and existing families to the
Junior Early Years. I hope our families, children and
community had a wonderful Spring season this year.
Spring was
the busiest month of the year for our little friends. We
were very busy with events and focusing on milestones.
Children had so much fun in the room with sensory
experiences, art and craft and outdoor activities as we made
use of this great weather. We celebrated lots of different
events such as Educators Day, Child Protection Week, Day for
Daniel, Halloween dress up, Recycling Week, Space week,
Remembrance Day, Diwali, and many more.
We have
explored healthy eating with a focus on fruits and
vegetables. We grow our vegetables and fruits and take care
of them. Children also enjoyed the gardening activities a
lot. We always upload photos, newsfeeds, and observations on
Hub hello for parents and encourage them to provide input.
We apply new strategies and bring some new ideas to meet
parents' expectations and goals towards children.
Encouraging good hygiene at an early age helps children to
develop lifelong hygiene habits. This can significantly
reduce the risk of bacterial infections and
cross-contamination throughout their development. We
encourage children to hand wash and clean their areas.
We are
very excited about December. December is a fun month. We
planned so many activities for Christmas and we will hand
out more cute and precious presents to families with their
art and crafts. Now it's the summer season so we will
explore water activities as we get new yards with water
features.

Message from the Senior Early Years Room |
|
Dear Families of the Senior Early Years Room,
It has been a very exciting last three months in the early years
classroom,
During the month of September we took a closer look at
mindfulness, relaxation and health and wellbeing, by
implementing wellness warriors, taking turns to promote wellness
through relaxation exercises, yoga, music and breathing
techniques, it was wonderful to see everybody get involved.
October was a super busy month and the children were all super
excited to explore space week, to celebrate and introduce the
concept of space and planets to children, we started the morning
with pretending to be astronauts and astronomers by creating
binoculars out of paper towel rolls, allowing us to look into
space searching for stars, planets and the moon. Not only did
these activities spark imagination and ignite curiosity.
Celebrating Diwali through music and art and craft activities of
paper lanterns and fireworks patterns . The children enjoyed
exploring the many cultures we have at Kidi Kingdom Child Care
through our children, families and educators.
Following up on the learning experiences we have had, Spring has
shown that the class has developed greatly in all aspects of
learning.
Thank you to all our families for dressing up for Halloween,
there were some amazing costumes and it was a super fun day.
Thank you, Miss Bec, Miss Amber, Miss Courtney and Miss Amie.

Message from the Pre Prep / Kindergarten Room |
|
Dearest Prep Prep / Kindergarten Families,
In the Pre-Prep room this month the children will be revising
their literacy and numeracy skills as this will be done as a
whole group and also through opportunities for one-on-one
moments of individual learning with the teacher. This month the
children will also be engaging in musical activities such as
dances and dramatic play experiences and practising their end of
year performance. We will be providing the children with lots of
support to enhance their coordination skills and work together
positively. As we are approaching the Christmas season, the
children will also begin to engage in a variety of Christmas
themed art and crafts experiences. We wish all our children the
best success for their next journey into Prep and hope you have
a smooth and supportive transition.
Thank you, Mrs Antonietta and Miss Simone

Message from the School Care Room |
|
Welcome Families of the School Care Children,
Whilst the children have been attending our service for Before
and After School Care, the children's interest has been in
playing group games with the whole class. School Care has been
showing interest in participating in more ball games which help
build on Fine Motor Skill and Hand Eye Coordination skills and
various games and group activities that are of interest to them.
Our program focuses on the My Time, Our Place Curriculum to
support our school age children's development and emerging
skills. We look forward to the big Christmas school holiday
program where we will have some amazing experiences planned at
the centre.
Thank you, Miss Naila. |
