Early
Learners
Welcome to
the Families of the Early Learners Room. Miss Jaz and I
would also like to give a big Kidi Kingdom welcome to all
our new friends who started with us at the end of 2020 and
the start of 2021!! Alice, Aiden, Ella, Matteo, Quinn, D'Or,
Renesmee and Ashton - we are very excited to have you join
our Kidi Kingdom family and cannot wait to watch you learn
and grow with us.
Finishing
off 2020 with a big month in December, we had a great time
celebrating Christmas with our Kidi Kingdom Centre Christmas
party where we had a fun filled afternoon tea outside, with
games, craft activities as well as a big surprise from Santa
himself! We made sure to take plenty of photos as our
families unfortunately could not join us due to COVID
restrictions.
We have
spent the month of January getting to know the children and
their families, establishing routines, and learning about
the children's interests and needs. We have focused on
laying strong foundations with the families in terms of
trust, respect, confidence, and secure relationships to
provide the best care for the children. A special
congratulations to Quinn and Ivy who celebrated their first
birthdays this month!
In the
month of February, we will be focusing on the theme of
Exploring Our World of Colour through various experiences
including art, painting, literature, songs and venturing
into the outside environment while following the children's
interests when planning our days. We will also participate
in the celebration of our calendar events such as Waitangi
Day and Chinese New Year with themed experiences. We are
immensely proud of how the children have settled in and look
forward to lots of fun in the months to come. If there are
any concerns or queries please feel free to either email the
centre, pop it into the children's communication books or
come speak with one of us, we are happy to answer any
questions and help wherever we can.
Thank you,
Miss Chrystleand Miss Jazarna.
Junior Early Years
Gurumba
Bigi! (hello) to all our families for a fun and exciting
2021 in the Junior Early Years. A big welcome to all our new
families from the Early Learners room who have now moved up
to join us in Junior Early Years. We are all excited to
share 2021 with you and your children we look forward to
seeing everyone grow, learn, and explore together. Over the
past couple of months, we have focused on getting to know
everyone and ensuring everyone feels safe and settled as
they transition between classrooms. We have enjoyed watching
new friendships form and watching your children feel
empowered to make choices regarding their own learning. In
the Junior Early Years room, we use your children's
strengths and interests as the basis of our curriculum and
encourage the children to play an active role in the
experiences we engage in. We also encourage families to
provide input into our curriculum based on what you know
about your children and their strengths, goals, and
interests.
This year
we have enjoyed exploring transport with emphasis on
patterns made by car wheels, colour recognition, matching
with traffic lights and fine motor development as we created
paper planes and helicopters. We have explored healthy
eating with a focus on fruits and vegetables. We have been
discovering the world of insects with many hands-on messy
play experiences relating to avariety of different bugs.
While learning about bugs we explored insect habitats and
what they like to eat through several age-appropriate story
books. We are now looking to start our newest area of
exploration which will be a class project called "All about
me". Through this learning we will explore aspects of our
faces and bodies, our five senses and look at what makes
each child unique and special.
Here in
the Junior Early Years room, we learn primarily with our
hands and our bodies and so our learning can become quite
messy. We ask if you could please pack plenty of spare
clothes for your child to be able to fully engage in our
classroom experiences. Also, if all belongings could please
be labelled, we can ensure each child's possessions are
accounted for and going home with the correct child. If you
have any questions or enquires about the Junior Early Years
room, please feel free to contact the centre and we will
assist as much as possible.
Thank you,
Miss Sarah, Miss Shaena & Miss Brooke.
Early Years
Welcome to
our families of the Early Years Room. We are so pleased to
be your children's Educators for the New Year! We would like
to firstly introduce ourselves, Miss Natalie, Miss Raquel
and Miss Madison. It has been a pleasure getting to know
your children over the last few weeks as they have slowly
transitioned to the room. During this time, we have
introduced colours which we are now calling them our traffic
light colours, red, yellow, and green. We are exploring the
traffic light colours in different ways such as matching
them to the same objects or finding the same colour around
the room while some children are pointing out multiple
colours in the one item. These experiences are great for
their milestones as they follow and understand instructions,
having to stop and move around the room, etc. We have also
introduced picture books for the children to investigate and
to extend on their activities they are exploring in the
room. It is great to see the children explore the bigger
outdoor environment as they enhance their physical and
social well-being. They have quite a lot of challenges to
explore and with the guidance from their educators they will
achieve their achievements within the outdoor environment.
Over the
next few months, we will be also focusing on shapes,
numbers, nature, and mealtimes. With mealtimes we plan to
cook, taste and explore different types of fruit and
vegetables, visit our centre garden, and learn all about
gardening and how farms produce our food. In our Early Years
Room we will be commencing toilet training, if you believe
that your child is ready to take the next step, we are more
than happy to help you in this part of their milestone. We
hope that you and your child will enjoy your time with us as
we explore lots of new ideas and learn life skills to reach
milestones.
A few
housekeeping reminders:
Please
provide your child with a fitted sheet and a flat sheet for
them to snuggle up in for a more comfortable sleep in the
scenario that they are a little cold from the
Airconditioning. Please also bring a hat with your child's
name that can be left at the centre and nappies (you are
more than welcome to bring in a box or bag and we can then
let you know when we are running low) and lucky last lots of
changers of clothes please, you can never tell what the day
may bring.
Thank you,
Miss Natalie, Miss Raquel and Miss Madison.
Senior Early Years
Welcome
Families to Senior Early Years Room. We are extremely
excited for 2021 with heaps of fun and educational learning
experiences planned. We have begun working on our routines
and self-help skills for example, taking off and putting on
our shoes, putting our bags in our lockers and putting our
belongings in our bags as well as toilet training.
This month
we were busy making Chinese Fans for Chinese New Year and
different activities for Waitangi Day. For Valentine's day
we created some lovely cards.
At the end
of last year the children received some great new resources
for their classroom, the new construction sets and toys were
a big hit, the children get very creative with their
construction building skills. the children also showed a lot
of interest in science experiments, the children enjoyed
exploring basic science experiments that has encouraged them
to learn and ask questions, collect information, organise,
and test ideas to solve problems.
Families
we urge you to please label your children's belongings
including bags, bottle, hats and sleep sheets. We would also
like to remind you that every child requires a hat for
outdoor play to keep them safe from our very strong Sun, If
your child does not have a hat, please see the office.
If you
have any questions, ideas and input on your children's
learning please come and discuss these with us as we would
love to hear from you!
Thank you,
Miss Sarabjit and Miss Sandy.
