Letter from the Centre Manager

Welcome Valued Families of Kidi Kingdom Child Care Centre - Coomera.

I would like to introduce myself as your new Centre Manager here at Coomera Centre. While we will all miss, Miss April she hasn't gone too far from us as she takes on a role in one of our other centres and I'm sure we will continue to see her pop in from time to time.

With the new year started and a lot of new faces and families coming into the centre I would like to take a moment to mention that we offer many extracurricular programs for the children to support their growth, mental health and wellbeing such as Billy's Buddies, Safe Swimming Program, "TIP" Transition Into Prep, Nature scape, Tiny Teez Dancing & Maggie Moo Music Program.

In the coming weeks we will be getting started on our wonderful excursion list, if any of you would like to see something in particular, please let me know as we strive on suggestions & feedback to ensure these programs are supporting your child's development and interests.

The first day of school approached us very quickly and our Before and After School Care Program has started. We have limited spaced due to our capacity on our Courtesy Bus, if you would like to secure your child's place in our busy program or have family or friends that you would like to refer to our centre, please approach or contact me at your earliest convenience..

Kind Regards,
Bridget Knights
Centre Manager

Around the Classroom

EARLY LEARNERS - Welcome to all our wonderful families of the Early Learners classroom. I hope everyone has had a great Christmas & Happy New Year.

During December the children showed amazing interest and participation in singing Christmas songs, the children also showed interest in red and green arts and craft. To extend on the children interest during Christmas we read some Christmas books and decorated our room with some pretty tinsel and baubles.

To start the year in January focused on all the primary colours, numbers and shapes. Throughout the day when the children show interest in an experience or activities we will expose the children to language, by talking about the colours we can see, how many we can count and what shape it is.

In February we will be focusing on our family tree, this is a great way to build relationships with our children, family and friends. To extend on this learning experience we will be kindly asking families to bring in some photos of them and their families including any pets.

Thank you,

Ms Sarah, Miss Natalie and Miss Aneika.

Junior Early Years - Dear families of the Junior Early Years classroom, what a wonderful way we ended to 2019 and we hope all of our families had a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year.

During the month of December Junior Early Years has had an awesome Summer break. We participated in Christmas games and activities to get us all in the festive spirit, we all drew pictures to send to Santa and in return Santa gave us a very special video call! We were so excited to receive his message! We also participated in movie sessions in our classroom with popcorn and lots of different water play activities under the hot sun.

To kick-start the new decade, Miss Steph has been busy getting our classroom ready for the New Year and transitioning new friends up into our classroom! January has been all about observing the children's interests, strengths and needs in order to develop a daily routine that is beneficial to all the children in the Junior Early Year's classroom.

In February you will notice the classroom has be re-painted. The classroom program will focus on the children's cognitive skills, mainly on basic numbers, letters, shapes and colours. Introducing our classroom routine and expectations, as well as self-help practices. I will be asking families to fill out a family goal sheet, so we can achieve goals and reach milestones for 2020!

Thank you,

Miss Stephanette and Miss Rebecca.

Early Years - Pre Prep - Dear Families of the Early Years and Pre-Prep room, so excited for the New Year and can't wait to see what 2020 will bring! Previous months the children really enjoyed the opportunity to engage in show 'n' tell as well as standing in front of the class to talk about their holiday season experiences. They were most excited to share what gifts they have received for Christmas and activities they have done at home with their families during the holiday session. There has been lots of wonderful discussions with the children, we will be continuing this for the next few weeks as they are a positive contribution to our learning programs.

We will be planning some fun and educational excursions for this year, we are encouraging the children to express their ideas about what they would like to see and explore. From there we will plan fun learning excursions that are educational, fun and meet the interests of the children. January has been a time on getting to know the needs and interests of new children and those who have transitioned up from another room. It will also be a time for all children to further develop a sense of belonging and promote positive friendship between peers in our Early Years and Pre-Prep room. Over the next few weeks the children will enjoy a variety of group learning games and sports as part of our celebration of our Summer Holiday season. Some of the group games will consist of dancing activities, musical chairs, sack races, jump rope activities, outdoor water play experiences, and ball games.

Alongside our festive season program, the Kindergarten program will also some pre-writing experiences in their own individual workbooks during a one-on-one time with the educators. We are continuing with our morning mat routine to encourage letter recognition activities, counting to twenty and counting backwards, the children are enjoying singing different songs in various languages. Our art and craft activities for the next couple of weeks will reflect the children's holiday experiences and upcoming important dates such as Australia day.

Kind Regards,

Miss Antoinette, Miss Emem and MrOwen.

School Holiday / Vacation Care - Dear families of the School Holiday / Vacation Care room, December was a fun filled month as the children enjoyed celebrating the festive season. We spent many fun times decorating the classroom with our Christmas tree, participating in a variety of sensory activities including making our own version of snow, creating Christmas characters with play dough and to cool us down during the hot Summer days we did water & sand play. The children enjoyed classroom group time speaking about the importance of Christmas and what it means to them. They shared many stories of fun times with family and friends, such as looking at Christmas lights, adventures holidays and camping trips.

I would like to wish all our families a very happy New Year I'm very excited as we have big things planned for 2020. During the months of December and January our vacation care program has been very successful and enjoyed by all that attended. This program is age appropriate, safe, fun and based on the children's interest, encouraging independence, confidence, building friendships and creating a sense of belonging as the children participate in new adventures, exciting excursions and enjoy hands on activities that spark the imagination. It was an enjoyable time spent at the botanical garden experiencing the sights of waterfalls and animals, the scents and textures of the large variety of flowers and plants and the sounds of the outdoors, providing countless opportunities for discovery, creativity and learning. Taking time to run, jump, climb the obstacles and relax under a shady tree with a picnic lunch. Our visit to the Coomera Aquatic Centre was a favourite and we all loved seeing the new Frozen movie at the cinemas.

Thank you, Miss Bec.
