Great News for Families !
CCS Activity Test changes starting January 2026
All Families will be eligible for at least 3 Days Guarantee
per Week regardless of their activity levels*
|
The
Australian Government is replacing the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)
Activity Test from January 2026 to guarantee at least 3 days of
subsidised early childhood education and care (ECEC) each week
for children who need it.
How will
this initiative work?
From January
2026, all families will be eligible for at least 72 hours of
subsidised ECEC per fortnight (3 days per week), regardless of
their activity levels.
Families can
still get 100 hours of subsidised ECEC per fortnight if they
meet activity requirements or have a valid exemption.
Families
caring for a First Nations child will be eligible for 100 hours
of subsidised ECEC per fortnight.
Why is
this important?
The 3 Day
Guarantee will support universal access to ECEC and help ensure
more children are school-ready. It will also provide targeted
cost-of-living relief to families.
The
Productivity Commission's final report, A path to universal
early childhood education and care (released September
2024), was clear that the children and families most likely to
benefit from ECEC are the least likely to attend.
Who will
benefit?
The 3 Day
Guarantee will benefit all families through certainty around
eligibility for subsidised ECEC.
In its first
full financial year the 3 Day Guarantee will benefit around
66,700 families, and more than 100,000 families will be eligible
for additional hours of subsidised care.
Families
earning over $533,280 in 2024-25 are not eligible for subsidised
care - consistent with current settings.

Message from the Educational Leader |
Dear Valued
Centre Families,
As we step
into May, our educators have continued to observe, reflect and
extend children's learning through thoughtful, play based
experiences across all age groups. We are proud to share some of
our recent teaching highlights, collaborative practices and
upcoming plans with you.
Teaching Highlights
Early Learners
Room;
Our babies
have been enjoying a range of sensory experiences, such as
exploring textured materials, nature items and musical play.
These activities are helping to develop their fine motor skills,
communication, and sensory awareness.
Junior Early
Years Room;
In the Junior
Early Years room, educators have supported children's curiosity
through water play, simple science exploration and group
storytelling. These experiences encourage early language,
problem solving and social cooperation.
Early Years
Room;
In the Early
Years Room, children have shown great enthusiasm for creative
arts, language development and imaginative play. This month,
educators introduced activities such as alphabet matching games,
name tracing and group storytelling using big books and visual
props.
Children
especially enjoyed creating Easter-themed artworks, including
decorating hats for the upcoming parade. Educators also
supported children in group discussions about making good
choices and classroom responsibilities. These experiences helped
build confidence, social awareness and early literacy skills.
Kindergarten
Room;
In the
Kindergarten room the children experienced a month of cultural
learning, early reading and creative expression. Each morning
the children greeted each other with multilingual greeting songs
in Maori, Italian and Japanese. Teachers shared classic stories
such as Foo Foo the Bunny and We are going on a Bear Hunt and
children actively imitated the characters during group time and
free play. We focused on developing early literacy skills as the
children learnt common words from the whiteboard, sang songs
about spelling letters and wrote their names with support. The
children also used puppets and felt face mats to create fun
characters for dramatic play and storytelling. In addition, the
children participated in an insect observation program to
observe and record the morphology of stick insects to further
stimulate their interest in nature and spirit of exploration.
Professional Reflection
Our team has
engaged in collaborative reflection to strengthen curriculum
planning, inclusive practices and intentional teaching. We are
committed to providing a respectful and culturally responsive
environment where every child feels safe and valued.
Family Engagement
Thank you for
your continued support and feedback. We invite families to
contribute to our program by sharing family photos, cultural
traditions or simply telling us what your child has been
interested in at home!
Kind Regards,
Miss Lisa Educational Leader

Message from the Early Learners Room |
Dear Valued
Centre Families,
My name is Ms
Ginnu and I am a certified early childhood educator currently
pursuing my Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Furthermore, my name is Tanvi, and I am the Lead Educator of the
Early Learners. We have been focusing on the children's emerging
skills in the Early Learners Room. Focusing on exploration,
discovery and lots of sensory fun. It has been a joy watching
our youngest learners grow in confidence, curiosity and
connection as they engage in play based experiences designed to
support their early development.
It has been a
pleasure to observe the babies grow and develop into toddlers.
Watching the children's small feet from crawling to walking and
developing new sounds and words is an amazing experience. We
have been exploring the skills that support babies to grow
healthy, physically and mentally. We have implemented
experiences with the children to develop their fine motor and
gross motor skills, cognitive skills such as recognizing people
and objects, communication skills like babbling, cooing,
responding to voice and names as well as social, emotional
and adaptive skills.
We have been
exploring sensory and creative play experiences that support
curiosity, physical development and early communication. The
children developed emerging skills by participating in the following experiences:
Easter Sensory
Play - Babies had so much fun painting colourful Easter eggs
using paper plates. This activity helped support their fine
motor development and sensory awareness while also promoting
sustainability through the use of recycled materials.
Tummy Time
with Textured Mats - Our little ones explored various textures
and patterns during tummy time, encouraging physical strength,
coordination, and sensory development.
Soft Ball
Rolling - This playful activity allowed babies to build early
movement and tracking skills while having fun engaging with
peers and educators in a relaxed setting.
Songs and
Story Time - Through gentle songs, finger rhymes and picture
books, babies are building early listening and language skills
while forming secure bonds with educators.
As we move
forward, we are continuing to support the babies development
through the following experiences:
Sensory
Discovery - Ongoing play experiences with textured materials,
water, soft fabric and natural elements.
Social
Connections - Supporting children's social-emotional development
through group play, one on one interactions and routines.
Gross Motor
Play - Providing safe spaces for rolling, crawling and reaching
to help babies strengthen their muscles and coordination.
We are so
proud of all the progress our little learners are making and
look forward to more precious moments ahead!
Kind Regards,
Miss Ginnu and Miss Tanvi Early Learners Educators

Message from the Junior Early Years Room |
Welcome to our
valued families of the Junior Early Years room.
I would like
to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Lead
Educator for the Junior Early Years room. My name is Miss
Natasha. It has been a wonderful start to my new role and I am
excited to share what we have been up to in the classroom!
Over the past
few weeks, we have been focusing on the children's language
development, helping the children become familiar with the
alphabet and animal names and sounds. We have had fun grouping
animals by the sounds they make, which has sparked allot of great
conversations and curiosity.
We have also
explored a variety of sensory play, cooking activities and arts
and crafts, encouraging creativity and hands on learning.
It has been a
joyful season of celebration as well! We have marked Mother's
Day, ANZAC Day, Holi Day, St Patrick's Day, Harmony Day and
Easter with special activities that introduced the children to
different cultures, traditions and community values.
Looking ahead,
we have a lot of fun and engaging experiences planned and we are
especially excited to begin introducing numbers and early
numeracy skills in the coming weeks!
Thank you for
your continued support. I look forward to a wonderful term of
learning and fun!
Warm Regards,
Miss Natasha Junior Early Years Educator

Message from the Senior Early Years Room |
Welcome to the
Early Years Classroom. My name is Ms Annu and I am the Lead
Educator in the Early Years Room alongside my Assistant Educator
Miss Bornali.
Over the past
few months, the children have taken part in a variety of fun and
exciting events, including Holi Day, Harmony Day, St Patrick's
Day, National Superhero Day, Easter and Mother's Day. For each
celebration, we enjoyed engaging in arts and crafts, sensory
play and learning experiences that supported the children's
connection with the themes in creative and meaningful ways.
In the
classroom, we have been focusing on tracing and matching
activities. These help the children strengthen their fine motor
skills and cognitive development, preparing them for a smooth
transition to the Kindergarten classroom. It has been wonderful
to see the children's confidence grow as they begin to write and
trace more independently.
Looking ahead,
we will continue celebrating special events while also
incorporating the children's interests into our learning
experiences. Our next exciting topic is learning all about shape
and how to draw them, name them and identify them in the world
around us.
I am looking
forward to another fun and enriching term!
Kind Regards,
Ms Annu and Ms Bornali Senior Early Years Educators

Message from
the Kindergarten Room |
We are
thrilled to share the exciting learning journey unfolding in our
Kindergarten Room! This term, we have introduced emergent
reading activities as a regular part of our morning group time
on the mat. Each week, the children will be encouraged to
recognize and read four simple sight words and build their
confidence in early literacy skills. This structured yet fun
approach will continue until the end of the year, helping the
children prepare for school readiness in a meaningful way.
In addition to
reading, we will also focus on early writing skills during one-on-one learning moments with the Kindergarten teacher. The
children will first practice writing their names, followed by
exploring three letter words, strengthening their fine motor
coordination and literacy awareness.
Our theme for
the month is "The Solar System", a topic inspired by the
children's growing curiosity about the sun and the moon. Last
week, we began our journey by discovering how our planet Earth
rotates and learning why we experience night and day. The
children were fascinated by this concept, sparking wonderful
discussions!
Moving
forward, we will explore other planets through engaging group
discussions, stories, and interactive experiences. This cosmic
theme will also be woven into our art and craft activities,
where the children can create imaginative representations of
planets, stars and astronauts.
We are so
excited to embark on this adventure in literacy and space
exploration, fostering both a love for reading and a wonder for
the universe.
Thank you for
your ongoing support, we cannot wait to see the children
flourish in their learning!
Kind Regards,
Mrs Antonette Kindergarten Teacher

the School Care Room |
Dear Valued
Centre Families,
During our
before and after school care program, the children have been
actively engaged in a variety of hands-on experiences that
supported their creativity, independence and social development.
Highlights of the program included recycled material craft
projects, dramatic play and outdoor team games, all of which
encouraged problem solving, collaboration and confidence. We
also introduced simple science experiments and continued our
group discussions around kindness, responsibility and respectful
friendships. It has been wonderful to see the children
supporting one another and growing through these shared
experiences.
Kind Regards,

COOKING WITH CHILDREN!
Cucumber Sushi |
 |
|
Our chef Miss
Renee has a 4 week rotating menu with a variety of different
meals, ensuring that all dietary needs are met and all daily
requirements are met. The children love to get involved with
cooking including - making muffins and mini pizzas for meals. We
recently had our Early Learners Room help make muffins for
afternoon tea!
Science:
Cooking is a science that we use every day! What happens when
you heat up butter, mix flour with water, or bake a wet cake mix
in a hot oven? Cooking allows children to witness science in
action and explore how different substances change and interact.
Social
development: Cooking offers a relaxed opportunity to
communicate, share tasks, and co-operate. Taking turns or taking
responsibility for certain tasks are all good examples of
cooperation and negotiation.
Confidence:
Cooking can also provide a fantastic self-confidence boost. The
sense of pride and achievement on your little one's faces when
they present the finished product they've created is priceless.
There are
loads of other ways cooking and early education go hand-in-hand,
from following instructions to developing motor skills to
understanding the importance of hygiene.
Step 1:
Finely slice the capsicum and avocado. Cook the rice
according to the packet instructions. Let it cool.
Step 2:
Cut each cucumber in half and use an apple corer to hollow
out the centres. You may need to dry out the cavity, so that
the rice will stick better. To do this, wrap a chopstick
with a paper towel and use it to dab the cavity dry.
Step 3:
Stuff about two teaspoons of cooked rice into the cavity,
then use a knife to press the rice to the side, to make way
for the other veggies.
Step 4:
Slide in a few slices of capsicum and avocado until the
cavity is fully stuffed. Cut into sushi slices and serve
with soy sauce.
